Nanticoke Creek Floodplain Mapping Project

Nanticoke Creek from Lake Erie to south of Thompson Road near Waterford, Ontario.
Project Description
The Long Point Region Conservation Authority (LPRCA) has retained Aquafor Beech Limited to update floodplain mapping for Nanticoke Creek from Lake Erie in Haldimand County to Thompson Road near the town of Waterford in Norfolk County, a distance of approximately 46 kilometres. The purpose of this project is to update existing floodplain mapping to current technical and mapping standards. Accurate flood hazard mapping is essential to reduce risks to life and property, support flood and erosion response, mitigation planning, and inform land use planning and permitting decisions.
Public Information Centre
A drop-in public information centre will be held on May 28, 2026 from 6:00pm – 8:00pm at the Townsend Lions Hall at 58 Forest Park Drive, Townsend Drive. The goals are:
- To provide information to property owners on flood hazard mitigation and emergency preparedness,
- Provide project information and an opportunity for the public to contribute knowledge of local conditions
- Fulfill the requirements for public consultation for any resulting amendments to regulated area mapping of Ontario Regulation 41/24 under the Conservation Authorities Act.
