The Long Point Region Memorial Forest is a special forest growing at the entrance to Backus Heritage Conservation Area, providing a natural, lasting tribute to loved ones while creating a healthy landscape.
Remember a family member, friend or colleague who has passed away by making a donation in their memory through the Long Point Region Memorial Forest Program. The family of the deceased will receive an “In Memoriam” card letting them know that a donation has been made in the name of their loved one. While individual trees are not planted for each donation; every donation helps to plant trees and maintain the forest grove.
A permanent record of all donations and the people they commemorate is kept in memorial registers located in the Conservation Education Centre at Backus Heritage Conservation Area and at LPRCA’s head office in Tillsonburg. A dedication service is held each September at the Long Point Region Memorial Forest.
Not only is planting trees a wonderful way to remember the life of a friend or loved one, doing so also assures a better environment for years to come.
Donations to the Memorial Forest program can also be made by calling 519-842-4242, ext. 221 or by sending a completed Memorial Forest Donation Form, along with a cheque made out to Long Point Region Conservation Authority to 4 Elm Street, Tillsonburg, ON N4G 0C4.
The 2020 and 2021 Memorial Forest Dedication Services were held virtually. The videos of the services can be found on LPRCA’s YouTube channel.
