You might find it easy to identify trees in the summer – just look at the leaves. But what do you do in winter when the leaves are gone?
On Saturday, February 18, join the Long Point Region
Conservation Authority and Norfolk Field Naturalists for an afternoon outing to
help you identify trees in winter.
The Winter Tree Identification program starts at 1:00 pm inside the Conservation Education Centre. Here you will learn tips to identify a variety of trees by the three B’s: buds, branches and bark.
Then it’s outside to put your identification skills to the
test. Participants will enjoy a scenic, informative nature hike through the conservation
area’s trails with Backus Heritage Conservation Area Director Nick De Serranno
and Dolf Wynia from the Norfolk Field Naturalists.
Dress for the weather as the nature walk is approximately 90 minutes in length. Admission to Winter Tree Identification special event is by donation.
