This site is located in some of the finest wetland habitat that still is in existence in Ohio. The 2,106 acre area consists of grassland/openlands and flooded marshes. Native prairie areas have been established and the area hosts the largest population of eastern prairie fringed orchid west of the Mississippi River. Recently, 360 acres of wetlands have been re-established with plans for an additional 500 acres. The site attracts a large population of waterfowl during spring and fall migration, especially Black Ducks. Other species including various types of ducks, geese, songbirds, shorebirds, and ring-necked pheasants can also be observed.
