Boating and Fishing
Deer Creek Conservation Area is one of the premier fishing spots in the Long Point Region watershed with excellent shore and lake fishing. Anglers can enjoy fishing for rainbow and brown trout, largemouth bass, yellow perch and pan fish. The annual Children's Fishing Derby will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2017 from 8am until 1:30pm.
If you want to try your hand at fishing but do not have any equipment, we can help. Deer Creek Conservation Area participates in the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters/Ontario Power Generation TackleShare Program as a loaner site.
TackleShare is a lending program that allows children and first time anglers to use a fishing rod and an assortment of tackle at no charge.
Simply sign the equipment from the Gatehouse and return it once you are done fishing for the day. A valid fishing licence is required and local area fishing regulations are to be followed.
Only non-motorized boats or small boats with an electric trolling motor are permitted on Deer Creek Reservoir. Gas motors are prohibited and visitors are thanked for their cooperation in following the motor restriction. Canoes are available to be rented on an hourly or daily basis. Equipment is available on a first come, first serve basis and is not reserved. Stop by the Gatehouse for more information.
