1. Trapping

Trapping is not allowed on Authority property except under the following circumstances, with written permission to be renewed annually.

a)  an individual has been given the right to trap furbearers on a piece of Authority property as a condition of the acquisition of that property by the Authority.

b)  where the overall population of the furbearing species in the area or property in question would benefit from limited trapping activity, in the opinion of the Authority.

c)  where the overall population would negatively impact the natural heritage values of the property.

2.  Hunting

All Ontario hunting regulations and season restrictions apply to Authority property.

Hunting is permitted on Authority properties, except for the Backus Woods.

Hunting is NOT allowed on the following posted Authority properties:

Hay Conservation Area

Vittoria-Sowden Conservation Area (Vittoria Tract only)

Black Creek Conservation Area

Norfolk Conservation Area

Haldimand Conservation Area

Waterford North & South Conservation Areas

Deer Creek Conservation Area (hunting is allowed after the official park season, May 1 – October 15, outside of the camping area)

All other Conservation Areas located within a hamlet, village or urban area

Central Workshop (hunting is allowed only by written permission from the LPRCA Field Superintendent)

 

3.  Off-road Vehicle Use

a) Off-road and all terrain vehicles are not allowed to use Authority property.

In general, snowmobiling is permitted on agreement forest and conservation area properties.

Snowmobiling is NOT allowed in the following areas:

Hay Creek Conservation Area

Norwich Conservation Area

Backus Heritage Conservation Area & Backus Woods (except North-South road from Concession 4 to Concession 5)

Anderson property (former Township of Charlotteville, near Normandale)

and all designated cross-country ski trails

Municipal by-laws etc. restricting such use may apply.

4.  Boating

Authority policy regarding boating is as follows:

a) No boating

 Lehman Conservation Area

b) No motorized boats (only canoes, sailboats)

Backus Heritage Conservation Area

Deer Creek Conservation Area

Hay Creek Conservation Area

Norwich Conservation Area

Vittoria Conservation Area

Trout Pond (Waterford South)

c) No motor above 10 hp

Little Lake Conservation Area

Waterford North Conservation Area

Teeterville Conservation Area

5.  Off Season Usage

a) Walk-in use of any conservation area is permitted in the off-season without charge from dawn to dusk only unless a special event has been organized for the area in which case entrance fees apply.

Where organized groups wish to use an area the normal group reservation form should be used, by contacting the Reservation Clerk at the Administration Office. All requests will be taken to Senior Staff for consideration, and if approved, the concerned parties must complete the Authority’s Hold Harmless Permit/Agreement (in duplicate) before the event takes place. One copy must be present with the group's representative at all times during the event.

Special usage of Backus Heritage Conservation Area for organized youth group camping is permitted subject to Senior Saff committee approval.

b) Waterford South Conservation Area (except Trout Pond) will remain closed to the public at all times while leased by the Camp Trillium Childhood Cancer Support Centre.
